Recently I had the pleasure of going to my neighbour’s house for coffee and making of the yearly gingerbread house with the 3 children and parents. Last year we started the tradition of buying the prepackaged gingerbread house because the children were old enough to decorate it. This year we bought another one and I was invited to help with it. I don’t know how much help I was as I decided to document the event with photos.
While coffee was being made the contents of the box was unloaded.
Next the plastic was taken off the house by the expert, mom.
Then candy was put in a bowl so it was easier to grab. Care was used not to leave any of the delicious sugar on the table.
The candy was divided up equally between the 2 decorators.
Mom got the icing bag ready and it was time to add the colour icing and the candies.
Sometimes a chair is needed to reach the high heights
Many busy little hands made the decorating go fast.
Little brother wanted to get in on the act but was satisfied with his own cookie with icing. Yum!
Sneak a taste. How could you not resist?
Some finishing touches
Now to decorate the Gingerbread ‘girls’ so they can be eaten right away as a treat.
Little brother wants a top up of the icing
A thumbs up and a satisfying bite
The finished sides of the Gingerbread House masterpiece!
Mom can we eat it now?!
Next year I think we will need 3 houses 🙂
